Live Today for a Happy Tomorrow

A couple days back, I was out with my family watching a Bollywood motion picture Baar Baar Dekho. It’s a romantic movie where the male protagonist gets to relive his future that could change his present and also could help him make his life better. He is a mathematical virtuoso by profession who calculates every step in his life logically and who ignores the true meaning of life. He loves his to be wife, his childhood sweetheart, but has his own doubts due to which he wasn’t certain to marry her. But a small travel to his future allows him to rethink what he could miss in his life due to his wrong choices.
Though, I did not enjoy watching the movie, but I actually liked the message behind the story. What if we all got a chance to peep into our future and got to see what lies in there for us? What if we got a chance to correct our mistakes, which would affect our future? What if we got a chance to make our future better? Wouldn’t that be exciting? We all have our regrets. A thought would come in our mind of backtracking and changing things to make our future better with fewer regrets or no regrets. But in reality, we cannot undo what we have already done. All of us have our own priorities. We dream big and work for our better future. We pick our vocations accordingly and work hard to achieve our goals. Careers are imperative, no doubt, but while achieving those big dreams of our life, we sometimes tend to forget to live in our present. We sacrifice many little things in our way to fulfill our goal. Sacrifice is a part of everybody’s life, but we shouldn’t get so involved in achieving our goal that we forget to feel the small happiness in our lives. To make our future brighter, we forget to live in our present. We cannot undo our past, but we can learn a lot from it nor can we foresee our future and plan accordingly. The only thing we can do is to live today and we should do that to fullest. Discovering joy in little things is as important as achieving our bigger dreams.

I won’t say to not worry for our future because that is something we cannot change, but we can start to live our present and feel all the happiness that comes our way. We should be there for our loved ones as they are more important than anything in our life. Instead of regretting in the future, it’s better to work on our mistakes or wrong choices and live a happy present, which will make our future brighter with less regrets. Don’t you think?

  1. Movies that look into the future in a way that makes us think about how are lives today will affect our own futures is always an interesting exercise. Sometimes I wish I could go back and change some things about my past, But I also see ignorances and mistakes as learning experiences.
