I am back with my another post and today I am going to tell you a few places that you can visit if you are in Ahmedabad. Last month amid Diwali time, I had been for a mini weekend vacation with my family to Ahmedabad🙂. Located on the banks of Sabarmati river and a former capital city of state Gujarat, Ahmedabad is considered to be one of the fastest growing cities in India.
As I had a very less time, I visited a few yet some of the most important tourist places. My first destination wasSabarmati Ashram( Also called as Satyagraha Ashram) , which is a must visit place in Ahmedabad. Once upon a time the great Indian freedom fighter, Father of our Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi stayed there with his wife Kasturba Gandhi. This place emerged as a national monument as Mahatma Gandhi started his journey from this very place to free our country and played a very significant role in India Independence movement. The entry to this Ashram is absolutely free and it is open from 8am to 7pm. This Ashram preserves the Charkha ( the spin wheel) that was used by Gandhiji. It displays the activities that were carried on by Gandhiji and his followers, his life stories, his work and a chance to see his house where he lived with his wife.
Our next destination wasLaw Garden. A small walk and lots of talk was all that we needed at that time 😃😊. After that we went for some street shopping just outside the law garden. It was very much crowded 🤨 and mostly all stalls use to open in evening. Then we headed to Manek chowk for some delicious street food 🍕🍛🍰. We ordered pizza, sandwiches, dosa and Amdavadi style Chocolate Rabdi Cheese sandwich as our dessert. If you are a foodie and would love to try different cuisines, you must try this place for street food in Ahmedabad 🙂.
The next day we decided to go toAdalaj Stepwelllocated in the village of Adalaj. The stepwell is five stories deep, intricately carved and built in sandstone.
In the evening we chose to visitSabarmati Riverfrontand mind you it was one of the awesome and peaceful places, I have been in that city. The view of river Sabarmati and the peace that I felt as soon as I enter is incredible 🤩. You can also enjoy riding in a speedboat there. Though, I didn’t get a chance to ride in it, as a few local visitors were breaking the queue, pushing others and were creating problems. I chose to step back as I wasn’t in a mood for this fuss 🤫. Otherwise, I have no complaints and one must visit this place and shouldn’t miss it. Considering this as one of the most recommended tourist places, the Government should appoint some employees here to manage things properly.
The last place that I had visited wasKankaria Lake. This is the second largest lake in Ahmedabad and has attractions such as toy train, water rides, a zoo and food stalls. We didn’t stayed there for much time and sat for only 15 minutes and enjoyed the evening view 😊.
